Thanks for posting that...the other two videos are neat too...
I really like how Mike integrates the stringbender into his tunes...even when hes not doing a lead, theres the little slip in or out of a chord... |

Great tune! And always interesting to hear the bender incorporated into something I've never heard before.

Mike has really relaxed into the use of the bender as and where needed, and incorporated it into his overall style. Nice work. Gene Parsons and I played with Mike for a couple of nights in Big Sur back in 1991, and it was a lot of fun then, and he's gotten a lot more comfortable with the bender since then.

Hey!
Thanks for the nice comments.
I really enjoy playing with my band best!Tom Ayres on the other guitar is a joy to work with.
My Tele is no custom guitar... it was Jim Messina's guitar although it was pretty much brand new when I got it. It had a maple neck . Iput the rosewood on because it felt so good to me... it came off a Japenese Tele I got in a pawn shop. My beleif is to get a good guitar and play the heck out of it until it becomes a part of you!
Thanks Bob!! The playing we did with Gene was really a fun time for me!
Let's do it again sometime!

Mike, good to see you post, been a fan of yours for quite a while. Brian and I were just discussing you and Montana Rose today. Great stuff. BTW, everyone I have played Itty Bitty Girl for has really liked it. Most have no idea what a bender is or what one sounds like. Now they do. How did you come up with the syncopated parts in the studio version? Very different approach than most of your previous stuff. The bender just seems to float in and out of the chords. Also, the break at the end of the solo is really good, you know it's coming and you still like it when it gets there. It's one of those tracks that grab you and you can't get it out of your head............

I noticed that Mike uses a capo on a few of those tunes...Ive tried, using both a Kyser and a Shubb, and it didnt work very well...maybe its my guitar...Mike sure makes it work...

Don, his capo is definitely a Scubb and mine works fairly well with all three of my benders. BTW, he also works a lot in drop D tuning. Check out the Nashville recorded tunes of Mike recording with Montana Rose. Lot of tasty bender licks here layered between dobro and steel.
